Cooking & Wine Classes

A set of 6 different courses showcases our ancient food and wine culture. All courses are held by renowned chefs with long-running experience and a large number of titles, acknowledgments and awards.

This sums up into a full immersion, which plunges our guest into a GOURMET world made up of flavors and smells of the most authentic Sicily.

Upon request of our guests, it is possible to arrange a driver-hire service and a Spanish and English speaking tourist guide.

  • Mediterranean Cooking Class – “Do it and Taste it”: Under the supervision of a renowned chef and his precious hints on the secrets of our typical Mediterranean dishes, our guests will take an active part in the making of their own food. The class includes also a tasting of 2 local wines. The dishes prepared under the supervision of the chef will then be served for lunch or supper to our guests. A unique occasion to become a master and spokesperson of the Sicilian GOURMET in a welcoming and homey atmosphere. Depending on the season and availability, all necessary ingredients are harvested on the fields or bought at the local outdoor markets.

 

  • Pizza Master – “Get your Hands dirty!”: This class is especially thought for pizza lovers. During the class, our guest will not only be given all necessary competences and manual skills for the preparation of a pizza, but also the essential knowledge to understand the ingredients, their features and quality. A particular attention will be given to the explanation of the properties and quality of the wheat used for the flour. Furthermore, the class will highlight also the difference between conventional and ancient wheat types. Our guests will then take an active part in the making of the dough and the pizza. The final product will then be served to our guest at lunch or supper together with a tasting of 2 local craft-brewed beers. Everything happens in a cozy and homey GOURMET atmosphere.

 

  • Cheese Factory - “A Day in a Dairy Farm”: An unforgettable experience in a typical Sicilian dairy farm in a 12th century hamlet. Here our guest will get in touch with the multifaceted world of cheese. After having enjoyed the process that generates “ricotta” (literally “Re-cooked”) and cheese from milk, our guests will be delighted by a tasting of zero foot miles products such as: dairy products, first fruits, wine and typical local products.

 

  • Wine Tasting - “Sicily Sip by Sip”: A unique experience in a winery located at the heart of Sicily. Taste the “nectar of the gods” directly where it is born. At the winery our guests will taste 3 local wines along wit typical local products. During the period of grape harvest, our guests have the possibility of getting actively involved. Here they get in touch with the grape variety and the entire process revolving around the production of a first-class wine. An experience for real GOURMET lovers.

 

  • Oil Experience – “Extra Virgin Olive Oil (and elbow grease!)”: An experience rotating around the tasting of 3 local olive oils, along with the best products that our territory offers. Furthermore, our guest will get to know our territory, the olive varieties and production methods which give birth to a worldwide unique extra virgin olive oil. In addition to the GOURMET side, during the harvest season our guests will take an active part by collecting and hand-picking the olives and by participating to the olive oil extraction.

 

  • Marcatobianco Experience – “The capital of La Via dei Formaggi (The Way of Cheese)”: The entire day experience is based on the concept of GOURMET “La Via dei Formaggi” (The Way of Cheese). During 3 tastings in 3 dairies our guests will have an insight into various types of dairy products of the highest quality. On board of a tractor, our guests will drive through the fields of Marcatobianco, a lovely 12th century hamlet, discovering its wineries and livestock farms. The experience continues with a tasting of “pani cunzatu”, homemade bread drizzled with “zero food miles” olive oil and ingredients. The bread is served by a friendly local woman, according to our tradition. The tour ends in a close rural hamlet of Arab origin, Borgo Regalmici. Here, in on one of Sicily’s most generous and fertile spots, our guest will return to the past, by visiting a place where time has stopped centuries ago.
